Major industry safety award for Glendinning

Glendinning has been awarded a Certificate of Compliance by the British Aggregates Association under a "Scheme for Assessing Operating Standards and Demonstrating Competence at Quarry Sites".

The independently assessed award certifies that the management of a quarry are aware of their legal responsibilities and that they are operating their site in a safe and competent manner. The Scheme has been recognized by the HSE as a means of reducing accidents in the workplace and has been awarded the prestigious Target Zero logo.

Glendinning Managing Director, Barry Wilson said: "Inevitably, quarries are potentially hazardous places of work, so we are delighted to be recognised by independently assessed and rigorous industry standards as a business that is operating in a safe and compliant manner.

"However, it is one thing having the right procedures, checks and balances in place but quite another to ensure they operate as they should and that individuals understand the working practices and their responsibilities to comply at all times. On that count the Board at Glendinning would like to thank all our employees whose commitment and collective efforts have made this award possible."

Glendinning's Health & Safety Manager, Russell Davidson added: "The process was a challenging one and took us all to areas of risk assessment and management that we had preciously not addressed. We are really delighted with this award especially as it just wouldn't have been possible without real team work at every level.

The award was made by Eric Darlow of the BAA on Wednesday 21 July at Glenndinning's Linhay Quarry in Ashburton Devon.
