Glendinning adds asphalt plant to Penhill acquisition

Glendinning, the region’s largest family owned quarrying, concrete products and road contracting business has announced the acquisition of the asphalt plant at Pigsdon Quarry near Bude from Tarmac Ltd.  The deal concluded on Friday 17th June.

The plant is located at the entrance of Glendinning’s quarry which the company acquired in January 2010.  It serves the North Cornwall and Torridge districts selling around 15,000 tonnes of asphalt per year including high specification surface courses, mostly to contractors such as South West Highways.

The acquisition now gives Glendinning two asphalt plants, increasing its coverage across Devon and Cornwall.

Commercial Director, Adam Somerscales, said “This is an exciting addition to our business and compliments our quarry near Bude.

”The transaction included the existing two plant operators joining our team and with their experience we are looking forward to uninterrupted supply to customers.”
